RUSSIAN GUN IMPERIAL STOUT

NOTES: Pours deep brown to black with a lasting tan head. Chocolate, caramel and coffee on the nose and in the mouth. A bit thin for a RIS yet somehow better for it. Highly drinkable with alcohol hidden well. Might be the best RIS brewed in Ontario.

LA GRANJA STOUT (ONTARIO MAPLE SYRUP EDITION)

This version of La Granja was brewed especially for and sold exclusively to Ontario. 160 liters of maple syrup from Combermere, ON was used in the production of this beer.

NOTES: Bottle. Blacky-brown with thin tan head that disappeared quickly. Definite maple on the nose. Sweet and malty. When colder alcohol was very present and flavours were diminished. Once warm the alcohol was hidden from the high roastedness of the malts. Maple sweetness was only slightly present. Much more on the nose than the mouth. Body was surprisingly thin.

NEUSTADT TEXAS TEA STOUT

NOTES: Can. Pure black. Sweet malty stout on the nose. Tan head that dissipates quickly. Sweet stout in the mouth, but not like a milk stout. They add honey to the brew. This is the second brew they’ve done of this and it’s so much better. First one was so sweet you could actually taste honey. This time around the honey is subtle and therefore does not take over the beer. Glad I tried it again!

MUSKOKA DOUBLE CHOCOLATE CRANBERRY STOUT

I’m totally blown away how good this is. I honestly thought this wasn’t going to work, but the cranberries give a very nice tart finish and totally surprised me. It’s really the only cranberry to this, the rest is chocolate, a lot of chocolate. But not super sweet, maybe because of the cranberry. It’s super black with a tan cap that’s pretty much gone half way through. It’s a bit thin in the body I must say, but it definitely makes it easy to finish the entire bottle. I will be getting a couple of more before they’re gone!
